Terms of use
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms cover the Scholar Help toolbar and this website. By using them you agree to these terms.
Who can use Scholar Help
Anyone can use the free tools. Premium for one person is for adults, or for a child with a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for them. Students using Scholar Help through their school are covered by their school’s agreement with us.
Free tools and the trial
Reading aloud, Hover Speech, the Dictionary and the Picture Dictionary are free. When you install Scholar Help, every Premium tool is free for 7 days, with no card needed. After that the Premium tools lock until you have Premium.
Premium for one person
- Premium costs $6 a month, charged by Stripe, and renews each month until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from the Premium page (“Change card or cancel”). Premium stays on until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
- We don’t give refunds for part of a month, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong, email us and we’ll make it right.
- If we ever change the price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before your next payment at the new price.
Schools
Schools buy Scholar Help with a written quote. Anything in that quote, or in a data privacy agreement we sign with the school, comes before these terms.
Using Scholar Help fairly
Please don’t try to break, overload or get around the Premium checks in Scholar Help, resell it, or use it to break the law or anyone’s rights. We may suspend an account that does.
Other services
Some tools rely on outside services (listed in our privacy policy), such as dictionaries and translation. Their answers come from them, and we can’t promise they are always right or always available. Translations, grammar suggestions and word predictions are helpers, not experts; check anything important.
No warranty
We work hard to keep Scholar Help useful and running, but it is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, Scholar Help is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms; we’ll change the date at the top and email subscribers about important changes. You can stop using Scholar Help at any time by removing the extension and cancelling Premium.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, United States.
